This one is looking over to the west and "The Trout" of Morse fame is off to the right.
This one is looking towards Oxford.
Using the organza that Jill sent to me earlier in the year along with some of the silk from Anna Belinda I have made these flowers. Whilst hand stitching them in the garden a gust of wind took the blue one off into next doors apple tree. Liberated with the aid of a garden cane.
The garden has certainly benefited from the rain over the last 24 hours. Lets hope that it is enough to make a difference to the crops that have been calling out for rain. Whilst on the meadow I could see quite a few cracks in the bare ground especially where the cattle and horses have been.
Over the last week or so I have been working on some mixed media art journal pages having been tempted to purchase a copy of Somerset Studio Magazine. The workshop instructions were by Roben-Marie Smith who's work I have admired for some time. Link to article on Roben-Marie's blog. Here is a close up of one of the pieces I have made. This is on heavy weight water-colour paper. It is a very absorbing process and one that I shall return to.
Then using a part of it I have made some tiny books.
I had a go at the same process using a canvas. Which was different. I think in hind sight I should have used clear gesso in order to build up more layers. This is a corner of the canvas.
Notebook number eighteen is one of the small notebooks. It measures 1.5 inches x 9/10th. It has 10 pages of cartridge paper pages.
Wishing you all a good week.

Your flowers are gorgeous, love them, so light and pretty. I like the canvas and paper backgrounds you've achieved. I love her work as well. Thanks for the tip about Rainbow Silks, found they have more publications I'm interested in as well :)
Your flowers are so delicate - mine are rather heavy with using a mix of recycled fabric & organza but I love making & using up bits & pieces.
Your mixed media pieces are lovely, it's very liberating adding it all to the page & then cutting it all up. I'll visit her again. Works well for your notebook cover.
Your organza flowers are particularly beautiful. Did you burn the edges to get that look? I love them. I'm enjoying seeing your little books too, and like the new work you are doing. Are you going to submit something to the Somerset magazine? Good luck.
Wish I could send you some of our rain, there is only mud here, no cracks.
Gorgeous organza flowers! Thanks for sharing the beautiful pictures too! It is nice the see nature blooming around us after a long winter, isn't it?
Lovely makes!

Love the miniature notebooks. The watercolour paper gives such a fantastic texture to the surface.

Your mixed media work is very interesting; I must go and follow the link. I especially like the canvas ....its gorgeous!
Flowers are so romantic, what a wonderful embellishments they would make on a soft dress. Paints and books and experimentation, you have been busy, It's hard not to love Roben-Marie, me too. Weather here is wonderful and sunny. Roses and wisteria and wildflower to show upon my return. xox Corrine
