I feel that I might have a bit more to say than of late, but we will have to see. Art Weeks for Oxfordshire is in it's third and final week. I just about managed with a lot of help from friends and family to open for a few days. Had lots of sleep in between. It was lovely to see quite a few people who come each year and discuss with them different processes. This year that included friendly plastic embossed earrings, printing onto fabric, general mixed media and Thermofax printing, I promised to write a bit about that here. I think the best way is to refer people to web sites. The company that I got my screens from is Thermofax Screens - the owner is very knowledgeable and willing to explain techniques. I tried just black ink to start with along with an extender to make it paler, soon realized that with my love of colour that was not going to be enough. I follow the blog of Linda Stokes a textile artist from Australia, do take a look as Linda has lots of samples of printing and also provides a custom made service.
My on line surface pattern design course has come to an end which is rather sad. I have quite a lot of catching up to do. It has been great fun and full of the most wonderful information. Great support and encouragement from fellow classmates. I think I was one of the oldest and one of those without any formal training in the subject area. I got this lawn fabric from a well know on line site as inspiration.
Colour as I am sure those who have been reading my ramblings will know is so important to me. I've lost a lot of weight these last few months so I am in need of a few new items of clothing. I think I am in the wrong age group. I received the Mini Boden catalogue [do not know why] and have been to a supermarket beginning with"S" and I have to say that I find the clothing for 12-14 year old girls far more attractive than adult clothing. I like spots, plain colours that are jewel rather than muted. Probably need to get sewing again.
I promised to have a give away and I will include those who left a comment on my last post and any left here. The items are some of photo cards, a textile brooch or a textile cuff. The draw will take place on June 6th.
I will leave you with a few photographs that I took of my garden two evenings ago, just as the light and warmth started to return.
Those of you here in the UK and anywhere else where summer has arrived enjoy it.
Hope to see a comment from my most regular Art Week visitor.
